Engine
For 2020, Hyundai outfitted the Elantra sedan with a standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. It's mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission and produces 147-horsepower while earning stellar fuel economy estimates. This Hyundai gets 31 mpg in the city and 41 highway. The GT hatchback model gets a bit more horsepower out of the same engine: 161, plus it comes paired with a six-speed automatic.
The Sport sedan and N-Line hatchback come with a lively turbocharged engine. This 1.6-liter four-cylinder makes 201 horsepower and comes with a seven-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual on the N-Line variant.
Elantra's 2020 ECO trim touts a turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that's good for 128 ponies. It comes with a seven-speed automatic. However, Hyundai discontinued the six-speed manual transmission in all the 2020 sedan variants.
