Trim Levels
The 2020 Hyundai Veloster is available in five trim packages including the 2.0, 2.0 Premium, Turbo R-Spec, Turbo, and Turbo Ultimate. All models are equipped with LED daytime running lights, automatic headlight control, a rear spoiler with LED center high-mount stop light, and tinted glass. Heated side mirrors, a rear wiper, and a roof-mounted shark-fin antenna are also standard. A wide sunroof is included on the 2.0 Premium, Turbo, and Turbo Ultimate models.
Engine
The Veloster 2.0 and 2.0 Premium are equipped with a 147-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 132 pound-feet of torque. The Turbo R-Spec, Turbo, and Turbo Ultimate bump up to a 201-horsepower, 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo engine that produces 195 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission is standard on the 2.0 Premium and an option for the 2.0. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on the Veloster 2.0 and Turbo R-Spec. The Turbo and Turbo Ultimate feature a seven-speed EcoShift Dual Clutch transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on all models.
Performance
Every model in the 2020 Hyundai Veloster lineup is incredibly fuel-efficient. The manual-transmission Turbo R-Spec has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. Veloster models equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission have a fuel efficiency of 27 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. Seven-speed Ecoshift transmission models have the highest fuel efficiency rating in the lineup with 28 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.
The Veloster provides 19.9 cubic feet of cargo area behind the rear seats and 44.5 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat. Cargo-area tie-downs ensure that packages stay put.
Interior
The Veloster 2.0 and Turbo R-Spec feature cloth upholstery. The 2.0 Premium and Turbo models add leather bolsters to the seats. The Turbo Ultimate model has leather seats. Rear seats in all models are 60/40 split-folding to make carrying extra-long cargo a snap. The 2.0 Premium, Turbo, and Turbo Ultimate also have heated front seats and a wireless charging pad. The Hyundai Veloster is loaded with infotainment features. All models are equipped with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Bluetooth hands-free phone system, a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, and speed-sensitive automatic volume control. The Veloster 2.0 has a 7-inch touch-screen display. The 2.0 Premium and Turbo R-Spec, and Turbo models bump up to an 8-inch touch screen. The Turbo Ultimate has an 8-inch touch screen with built-in navigation. Every Veloster model except for the 2.0 includes Bluetooth voice recognition and an Infinity premium audio system. The Turbo Ultimate also includes a head-up display.
Safety Features
Every Veloster includes a suite of advanced air bags. Other standard safety features include lane-keeping assist, driver attention warning, vehicle stability management, electronic stability control, traction control, brake assist, anti-lock brakes, and forward collision-avoidance assist. In addition to all of these features, the Turbo ultimate has pedestrian detection and rain-sensing wipers. Blind-spot collision warning and rear cross-traffic collision warning are also standard on all models except for the Veloster 2.0.
