4 Reasons Why the 2020 Hyundai Elantra Is a Great Family VehicleIf you’re looking for a family car, you don’t need to give up style and driving pleasure. The 2020 Hyundai Elantra is a stylish and economical small sedan that features bold front-end styling and a sleek profile, which gives it a dominant road presence.

With six trim levels and three engine options, there’s an Elantra to suit your needs. Here are four of the features that make it an ideal car for your family.

  1. Interior Design

The Hyundai Elantra carries up to five people, while the roomy trunk has 14.4 cubic feet of space for your family’s gear. The 60/40 split-folding rear seats add more room for cargo. For comfort on the road, the sedan features automatic dual-zone temperature control.

The SE trim has practical premium cloth seating with a six-way adjustable driver’s seat. Features include a tilt-and-telescoping steering column, steering wheel-mounted audio, Bluetooth, cruise controls, and a 3.5-inch cluster display.

The Value Edition adds push-button start, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and a power sunroof. The Limited trim features leather upholstery, a power driver’s seat, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Opting for the Sport trim gets you unique interior styling, sport seats with contrast stitching, a flat-bottom sport steering wheel, and a sport instrument cluster.

  1. Infotainment

To keep the family entertained and connected, the Elantra SE has a 5-inch touch screen, a Bluetooth hands-free phone system, smartphone USB and auxiliary inputs, and a six-speaker MP3-compatible sound system.

Stepping up to the SEL gets you a 7-inch touch screen, smartphone integration, voice recognition, and satellite radio. The Eco trim adds dual charging USB ports, while the Limited offers eight-speaker Infinity premium audio with HD radio.

  1. Power and Performance

The Elantra’s standard powertrain is a smooth 2.0-liter inline-four engine that delivers 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque to the front wheels. The engine is paired with a new intelligent variable transmission with Normal, Sport, and Smart drive modes to suit your driving style. This powertrain will return up to 40 mpg for highway driving.

The Eco trim features a lively and economical 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-four engine that produces 128 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque. This turbocharged engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and gives you up to 33 mpg in the city and 41 mpg on the highway. Sport models get a perky and responsive 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four engine for a fun and exciting drive.

  1. Safety in Mind

The Elantra is designed with your family’s safety in mind. To keep you on track, it offers vehicle stability management, electronic stability control, and traction control. Safe stopping is assured by an anti-lock braking system with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist.

Standard driver assistance features include a rearview camera with dynamic gridlines, forward collision avoidance assist, lane-keeping assist, and driver attention warning. The SEL adds blind-spot collision warning with rear cross-traffic warning, while Limited and Sport models offer automatic high beams and the option of smart cruise control, pedestrian detection, and safe exit assist.
