Our Arizona summers are incredible, but they can also become overbearingly hot. That’s when your trusted AC provides the chilled air that takes the edge off. The AC, like all other systems in your Hyundai, needs regular servicing and maintenance to work at its best. As your Hyundai dealer, we want to tell you more about some signs you need to visit us for an AC service.
Failed Compressor
The compressor is the MVP in your AC system. It’s responsible for pushing refrigerant through the system to chill the air. It’s a very robust component, but it can still become worn or damaged over time. If the compressor fails, the AC won’t work. A compressor can fail due to age, but it can also fail due to a blown fuse, a jammed pulley, or damaged wiring.
The movement of the crankshaft powers the compressor. This movement causes the serpentine belt to run across the compressor pulley and cause it to spin. If the pulley jams, the compressor loses all power. Broken wiring or a blown fuse will prevent the compressor from working until they’re replaced. We’ll examine your compressor and fix the problem.
Blocked Air Vent
Air enters the AC via a vent situated below your windshield. If you turn on the AC and there’s no airflow, listen for a slight click. This sound is made by the compressor clutch switching on. If you hear this sound, your AC is working but lacks air. Leaves, dirt, or other debris can easily block the exterior vent.
We can easily solve this problem by clearing the intake to restore airflow. If the air intake is clear and your AC is working but not blowing air, the air ducts leading to your cabin are blocked. Leaves and other debris are drawn into the AC with the air and can rapidly block the airflow. Our technicians will clean your ducts, and cold air will blow into your cabin again.
Broken Fan
The fans in the AC are responsible for pushing cold air into your cabin. They’re delicate components and can be damaged by hard objects thrown up from the road surface or fail due to electrical problems. If your AC is working but only a small amount of cold air reaches your cabin, you probably have a fan problem.
Fans can also fail due to damaged wiring, blown fuses, or other electrical issues. They can also fail if they’ve become clogged with dirt and can’t spin. We’ll examine the fans and repair or replace them.
