When the whole family is hungry, there’s nothing better than taking them out for a delicious pizza dinner. At Oxendale Hyundai, we’re lucky to have some of the best pizza restaurants in the state right on our doorstep in Flagstaff, AZ. Here are some of our favorite locations for grabbing a pizza pie.
Fat Olives
Fat Olives was started by award-winning chef John Conway over 25 years ago, and has been voted Flagstaff’s “Best Italian Restaurant” on several occasions. It specializes in making authentic Neapolitan pizza and has been certified by the Verace Pizza Neapolitan Association, which has strict guidelines regarding the ingredients and ovens used to make each pizza. We can confirm that the results are delicious.
Many people come for the Pizza Classica menu, which includes Neapolitan pies such as Calabrian Dolce, Shrimp Fra Diavolo, and the award-winning Belgio Dolce pizza. There’s also an excellent choice of bruschetta boards, antipasti, and a hearty children’s menu. If you are still hungry, you can finish your meal with a selection from the mouthwatering dessert menu. Fat Olives is located at 2308 E Route 66.
Pizzicletta
Pizzicletta’s owner Caleb was inspired to start a restaurant after he took a bicycle tour through Italy in 2006. His love of Italian food is evident when you sample the menu in his small but perfectly formed eatery. There’s a tasty choice of starters here that include rosemary focaccia, salami, and a mixed green salad.
Neapolitan pizzas dominate the main menu at Pizzicletta – the Carne Dolce is particularly good, and we also want to try the SS-145 and the Amore oi Mari. For chefs who enjoy home cooking, they sell a small selection of gourmet Italian ingredients to use in your own creations. These include Italian Caputo flour and Pecorino Romano, which is grated sheep milk cheese. Pizzicletta is found at 203 West Phoenix Avenue.
NiMarco’s Pizza Downtown
NiMarco’s Pizza Downtown has been a fixture here since 1979, and the current owners took charge in 2000. Its specialty pizzas are delicious and include the Mexican-inspired South of the Border pizza, as well as The Popeye, which includes spinach among its ingredients.
For starters, there are Appi-Teasers on the menu, and you can also try freshly-made salads and wings. Gluten-free food lovers are welcome here, with both specialty and build-your-own pizzas available. Lastly, NiMarco’s sells its own unique pizza kits, which give you everything that you need to make a NiMarco pizza in your own kitchen. The restaurant is based at 101 South Beaver Street.
