3 Delicious Pizza Places in FlagstaffThere are over 60,000 pizza restaurants in America, and the average American eats 46 slices every year. That equates to 23 pounds of pizza per person, per year. If you’re looking for a great slice of pizza in the Flagstaff, Arizona, area you should check out one of these three restaurants.

  1. Pizzacleta

Located on Phoenix Avenue in Flagstaff you’ll find Pizzacleta. They make a Neopolitan-style pizza cooked in their wood-fired oven for a crispy, flavorful crust. The restaurant is a small, intimate space with a delightful patio to dine al fresco. The menu is small as well, but amazing nonetheless.

The Margherita pizza will transport you to Italy when you taste the fresh Bianco-DiNapoli tomato sauce, housemade mozzarella, basil, and olive oil. The Bacon Shallot pie is packed with flavor too. It’s topped with crisp bacon, sauteed shallot, mozzarella and grana cheese, and fresh thyme.

Or you might try their truly unique Bees Knees pizza. This creative pie is topped with mozzarella and mascarpone cheese, sausage, sage, and drizzled with locally-sourced honey. Another favorite is the Funghi topped with mozzarella and Fontina cheese, roasted mushrooms, red onion, and chives.

Due to COVID-19 they are only seating on the patio, and request that you wear a mask whenever you interact with the staff.

  1. Fratelli Pizza

Voted the best in Flagstaff every year since 2002 should say it all. Fratelli Pizza has three locations in Flagstaff on West Phoenix Avenue, Fourth Street and Fort Valley Road.

Having the best pizza is about starting with dough made fresh daily, a sauce made with only Stanislaus County, California, tomatoes, and a Wisconsin whole-milk mozzarella cheese.

You can build your own pizza in three sizes, or you can order classic flavors like a Margherita pizza topped with Roma tomato, garlic, and a basil pesto. Specialty pies are sure to please like the Popeye topped with spinach, bacon, red onion, cheddar and mozzarella cheese and a red sauce.

Another favorite is the Route 66 with barbecue sauce, bacon, mozzarella and cheddar, green chile, roasted red pepper, grilled chicken, and red onion. Then there’s the self-described hippy favorite, the Flagstaff with generous portions of pesto, sun-dried tomato, mozzarella and ricotta, garlic and artichoke hearts.

  1. Fat Olives

At Fat Olives they take their Neapolitan pizza seriously. So serious that they’ve been certified by the Associazione Napoletana for using only the finest imported ingredients from Italy, and a wood-fired oven.

The Bufala Margherita special is made with real imported Buffalo mozzarella, San Marzano tomato, and fresh basil. Another favorite and fifth place winner at the International Pizza Expo, 2015, is the Adovado. This pie is piled high with San Marzano tomato, spicy pork tenderloin, mozzarella and wood-roasted onion.

You can’t go wrong with the Ms. Piggy. This creative pizza is made with a white base of ricotta, mozzarella and Pecorino Romano cheeses, and then topped with smoked salmon, dill cream, fresh dill, red onion, sea salt and extra-virgin olive oil.

There aren’t enough great pizzas out there. The next time you’re craving one you should try one of these three restaurants.
