The Best Ice Cream in FlagstaffIce cream is one of the most popular desserts in the world. Its rich, creamy taste, decadent toppings, and an endless variety of flavors appeal to everyone. There are plenty of places to get ice cream, but all ice cream shops aren’t created equal. Here’s a look at the best ice cream in Flagstaff.

Yogurt U

You’ll find Yogurt U on South Plaza Way in Flagstaff. This unique restaurant has a little bit of everything. They serve Nathan’s hot dogs, breakfast and lunch sandwiches and the yogurt bar is amazing.

Building your own dessert is fun for everyone, but especially the little ones. Choose your size, then select your flavor and dispense the amount of frozen yogurt yourself. Then move to the toppings station and add whatever candy or topping you like. Hot fudge, gummy worms, nuts, and crushed candy bars are all there for the choosing.

Now they serve snow cones, those icy sweet treats. Flavors include cherry, blue raspberry, root beer, tiger’s blood, watermelon, and more.

Cold Stone Creamery

This popular chain ice cream shop has a Flagstaff location on South Milton Road. All their ice cream is handcrafted in each store, and then you choose your toppings which are mixed in on their frozen granite counter.

You can build your own sundae at Cold Stone Creamery, or try one of their signature creations like the PB Dough Delight made with peanut butter cookie dough, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, cookie dough and fudge. Another favorite is The Way the Cookie Crumbles with classic cookie dough ice cream, Oreo cookies and frosting.

Fruit lovers go crazy for the Berry Berry Berry Good special. It’s a simple blend of strawberry, blueberry and raspberry mixed into a sweet cream ice cream. The kids will love the Birthday Cake Remix made with cake batter ice cream, colorful sprinkles, brownie chunks and fudge.

Baskin Robbins

Another chain ice cream shop that does it right is Baskin Robbins. Founded over 70 years ago with the idea to offer 31 flavors when everyone else was only offering vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, the ice cream world changed forever. Baskin Robbins now has created over 1,300 flavors.

You won’t find all 1,300 in every store, but you will find some great choices like Surprise Party, Cotton Candy Crackle, and even a non-dairy vegan chocolate chip cookie dough. Unique offerings like Green Tea and Jamoca Almond Fudge tease the mind and please the taste buds.

Sweet Shoppe Candy Store

This store has everything you could ever want if you love sweets. The Sweet Shoppe Candy Store stocks all those hard to find favorites that will having you re-living nostalgic memories of your childhood. That alone might be worth the trip.

They also make gourmet chocolates, homemade fudge, caramel apples, and, of course, the finest Italian gelato around. Flavors change all the time, but you’ll always find your favorite. Order a cone or cup, or purchase a pint or half-gallon for home.

When it’s done right, there’s nothing quite like ice cream. The next time you’re looking to satisfy that ice cream urge you need to visit one of these fine shops.
